Traumatic Brain Injury

The Medical Department Activity-Bavaria mild Traumatic Brain Injury (mTBI) Clinic is part of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department. We serve Soldiers with mild traumatic brain injuries along with other acute or chronic musculoskeletal injuries. The primary mission of our clinic is to serve as treatment centers for assessment and rehabilitation of Soldiers with deployment-related mTBI (also known as concussion) symptoms, which result most commonly from blast explosions.

The mTBI clinics offer intensive evaluation and rehabilitation in a multi-disciplinary outpatient setting here and in coordination with our colleagues at Landstuhl. Treatment planning supports mental and physical health, with the goal of speeding recovery of social and occupational functioning after mTBI. Referrals for the mTBI Clinic can be made by: Primary Care, Behavioral Health, Chaplains, and Commanders.
