Feel free to contact the Grafenwoehr Eye Clinic to learn more about some of our key services below.

Comprehensive Eye Exams

Complete eye exams are not just for updating your prescription. During a complete eye exam, your eye doctor will not only determine your prescription for eyeglasses, but also check your eyes for common eye diseases, assess how your eyes work together as a team and evaluate your eyes as an indicator of your overall health. Eye exams usually take about 30-60 minutes.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  Your eyes may need to be dilated to provide a thorough eye health examination. This will result in blurred near vision and light sensitivity for the remainder of the day. You must have a driver with you.  It is illegal to drive in Germany dilated.

Child Vision Exams

Even if your child has “20/20” eyesight, he or she may be experiencing vision problems. These problems may be causing learning problems and substandard educational results. The American Optometric Association recommends that children should have their eyes examined at least every 12 months or according to their optometrist’s instructions.  Most child vision exams are 1 hour long and may include a dilated eye exam.

Contact Lens Exams (Established Contact Lens Wearers)

NOTE: Contact lens exams are not a Tricare covered benefit. Contact lens exams are at the provider’s discretion. Initial contact lens fits require additional training and are done on a case-by-case basis.

If you are currently wearing lenses, have a copy of the most recent prescription, and/or at least one set of lenses in the original packaging. Please bring this information with you to your routine exam.

One size does not fit all when it comes to contact lenses. Your eye doctor will need to take some measurements to properly fit your contact lenses. Contact lenses that do not fit properly could cause discomfort, blurry vision or even damage the eye.

Your eye doctor may request that you schedule a follow-up appointment to check that your contact lenses are fitting properly and that your eyes are adjusting properly. Your eye doctor may decide to try a different lens, a different contact lens disinfecting solution or try an adjustment in your wearing schedule.

Eye Emergencies (Red Eyes)

We are always willing to help, should you ever experience an eye emergency. Our clinic provides emergency services for eye infections, eye injuries and other eye urgencies. State of the art equipment allows us to examine the front surface of the eye and also digitally scan inside the eye for infection or damage.

AFTER HOURS: To access the 24/7 Nurse Advice Line (NAL) from a German contracted cell phone in Europe you must first call the clinic appointment line and Press 2 in the main menu to be connected to the NAL toll free. Direct dialing from a German contracted cell phone (0800-071-3516) to the toll free NAL number is now available in Europe via LANDLINE ONLY.
