USAHC SHAPE

U.S. Army Health Clinic SHAPE

U.S. Army Health Clinic SHAPE is located on the SHAPE Base Support Group Garrison approximately 40 miles south of Brussels in the town of Casteau, Belgium. SHAPE is an international, joint community composed of multiple US military commands, and is the Headquarters of Allied Command Operations, commanded by the Supreme Allied Commander Europe. This strategic international joint environment makes the SHF one of the most uniquely different clinics in the Army inventory. The NATO healthcare mission has belonged to the US Army since the 196th Station Hospital was assigned to Paris, France in 1955.  Additionally, the SHF provides regional support to the BENELUX region (Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg) as needed.

COVID-19 VACCINE UPDATE (As of Nov. 16, 2021)

COVID-19 Booster Vaccines:

Army MTFs have received authorization to begin administration of COVID-19 booster vaccines to specific high-risk population groups based on U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention emergency use authorization guidance.

1. For those who received either the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine primary two-dose series, the following groups are eligible for a single COVID-19 booster shot six or more months after the initial series:
· 65 years and older
· 18 years and older with underlying medical conditions
· 18 years and older who live in long-term care settings
· 18 years and older who work or live in high-risk settings.

Additional information about each category is available at: https://www.cdc.gov/.../2019-ncov/vaccines/booster-shot.html.

2. For individuals 18 years and older who received the Johnson & Johnson/Janssen COVID-19 vaccine primary dose, a single COVID-19 vaccine booster dose is recommended two or more months after the initial dose.

Mix and Match: The FDA also amended the EUAs for COVID-19 vaccines to allow “mixing and matching” of any of the available COVID-19 vaccines when used as a booster regardless of original vaccine administered.

At this time, the FDA and CDC DO NOT recommend COVID-19 boosters for people who do not fit into the categories above.

We have already started to vaccinate our health care staff, in line with the FDA and CDC guidance. In the coming days, we will provide information on COVID-19 booster vaccine appointments and events on Facebook and the public website.

Eligible IMMUNOCOMPROMISED individuals can continue to make an appointment for a third dose in Pfizer or Moderna.

Patients needing a third dose MUST bring their vaccination card, so the date of their last vaccination can be verified.

Patients under 18 MUST have a picture identification such as government ID or passport.

Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine for children ages 5-11:

We will administer the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for ages 5-11 on the following dates and locations:
