TRICARE Prime Overseas gives you the benefits of TRICARE Prime when stationed in non-remote overseas areas. Selecting enrollment for TRICARE Prime Overseas is not automatic and family members must be command-sponsored. Retirees and their families are not eligible to enroll in TRICARE Prime Overseas. For more information please visit the DEERS Website.

TRICARE Prime

It is a "managed care" option, so there are specific rules you need to follow to ensure you are getting the most out of your TRICARE Prime benefit and not paying unnecessary out-of-pocket costs.

Emergency Care

“A medical emergency is anything that threatens life, limb or eyesight. Prior authorization is not required. If you are admitted, you must call ISOS before you leave the facility, preferably within 24 hours or on the next business day to coordinate authorization, continued care and payment. The ISOS call center can be reached at toll-free: 0800-589-1599 or CIV: 0044-20-8762-8384 (International rates apply).

Urgent Care

Is defined as an illness or injury that would not result in further disability or death if not treated immediately, but does require professional attention within 24 hours. PRIME beneficiaries must contact ISOS before receiving urgent after hour care on the economy. Obtaining pre-authorization is required.

Routine Care

Includes general office visits for the treatment of symptoms, chronic or acute illnesses and diseases and follow-up care for an ongoing medical condition. Authorization is required.

Specialty Care

There are times when you will need to see a specialist for a diagnosis or treatment that your PCM cannot provide. In such cases, when the services are not available at the MTF, care will be coordinated with a host-nation provider or facility. You can expect to receive a specialty care appointment within four weeks (28 days). Again, authorization is required.

The Global TRICARE Service Center (GTSC)

It helps beneficiaries find health care services while living or traveling overseas. Calling the TOP Regional Call Center will provide you the following options:

Option 1: Medical Assistance
Option 2: Claims/ Payment information
Option 3: Authorization Request and host nation appointments
Option 4: Enrollment
Option 5: Network Department
