Patient Movement 

Overview:

The Patient Movement Office serves to coordinate patient travel for medical care. Whether the patient is an Active-Duty Service Member, or an Active-Duty Dependent the Patient Movement Coordinator can provide documentation for Defense Travel System (DTS) purposes, lodging information and organize transport on the Medical Shuttle.

Scope of service:

Providing guidance for the Medical TDY process including Statements of Competent Medical Authority and Invitational Travel Authorizations. Assisting patients with their medically necessary travel needs. The Patient Movement Coordinator does not create DTS authorizations on behalf of patients but provides the supporting documentation required for DTS.
 

Eligible Beneficiaries:

The Patient Movement Coordinator can provide travel and lodging information to all patients however processing of Medical TDY documentation is only available for Active-Duty Service Members and their command sponsored dependents with medically necessary travel over 100 miles. Travel on the Medical Shuttle is offered on a Space Available (SPACE-A) basis for anyone not on a Medical TDY status.

How to Schedule an Appointment:

Patients are seen on a walk-in basis during normal business hours. If patients are unable to stop by the Patient Service Center for assistance, they can contact the Patient Movement Coordinator directly by calling +39 0444-61-9707 or +39 0444-61-9050 and requesting to speak to Patient Movement.

Medical TDY

Active-Duty Service Members and their command sponsored dependents who are referred to a facility greater than 100 miles may be eligible for reimbursement.  A Statement of Competent Medical Authority (CMA) for Medical Travel is necessary.

Statement of Competent Medical Authority for Medical Travel – Family Member (FM)

This form will be processed by the Patient Movement Coordinator and the patient will receive a Memorandum for Record for input into DTS.

Medical Shuttle

The medical shuttle is available for patients with a referral to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center and/or adjacent facilities within Germany. Patients must see the Patient Movement Coordinator to coordinate travel and receive the completed Competent Medical Authority (CMA) packet if applicable.
For patients utilizing the medical shuttle while on Medical TDY status the Patient Movement Coordinator can provide a parking pass to use the clinic parking lot. Vehicles should be parked on the Caserma Ederle west wall road adjacent to the Health Clinic (along the green fence line).

 Closed Every 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month for training from 11:45 a.m.– 4:15 p.m.
