Traumatic Brain Injury
The BMEDDAC mTBI Clinics & mTBI Site Teams serve soldiers and military beneficiaries with mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI). The primary mission of the clinics is to serve as treatment centers for assessment and rehabilitation of soldiers with deployment-related mTBI (also known as concussion) symptoms, which result most commonly from blast explosions. The mTBI clinics offer intensive evaluation and rehabilitation in a multi-disciplinary outpatient setting. mTBI Site Teams offer treatment management and referral services. Treatment planning supports mental and physical health, with the goal of speeding recovery of social and occupational functioning after mTBI. Referrals for the mTBI Clinic can be made by: Primary Care, Behavioral Health, Chaplains, Commanders, or self-referral.
